Ruhul Amin

Hi! I'm Ruhul Amin

A technical founder focused on building innovative products using machine learning and AI.

I cofounded Onfido, where I helped shape the product from its earliest days, leading the architecture and scaling the platform into a globally trusted identity verification service used across fintech and regulated industries.

At Onfido, we helped shape how identity verification is done today. Over the past decade, we moved identity verification from being used primarily by startups to an accepted enterprise standard. We built the software from the ground up, proving it in real-world use and turning it into a sustainable business. Our key edge was machine learning, embedded into the product from the outset. By applying techniques spanning computer vision, deep learning, generative methods, and large language models, we built production systems that enabled Onfido to tackle identity verification at scale while maintaining accuracy and trust.

Most importantly, this was a team effort. I had the privilege of working with exceptional people, and the culture we built together played a defining role in our success.

Onfido was acquired by Entrust in April 2024.

I studied Engineering at the University of Oxford, specialising in Information Engineering. I've always been fascinated by technology and how things work, particularly electronics and computers. I enjoy working at the intersection of technology, product, and real-world constraints, turning hard problems into robust, scalable solutions.

Today, I'm exploring new ventures and advising founders and investors, particularly those building AI-first products, platforms, and infrastructure where strong engineering judgment and long-term thinking create lasting advantage.
